Altarum Institute, through its Council on Aspirin for Health and Prevention, provides national leadership in the area of aspirin and disease prevention. The mission of the Council is to promote the appropriate use of aspirin for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, stroke, cancer, and other illnesses. This is done through evidence-based research and dissemination of effective strategies to consumers, health care providers, and policymakers.
Altarum serves as a forum for scientific review, discussion, and guidance development related to aspirin and prevention. Its aim is to improve patterns of aspirin use: increasing use by those who would benefit while cautioning against aspirin use by those unlikely to benefit. Altarum maintains a repository of key evidence related to aspirin and prevention, which is available on the project website www.aspirinproject.org. The site offers sections for consumers and health care providers, as well as aspirin-related news, research, and policy information.
