The Defense Health Agency wishes to adapt, implement and report on an instrument modeled after Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). As a vendor meeting the requirements outlined in the HCAHPS Quality Assurance Guidelines, V.8.0, Altarum conducts the TRICARE Inpatient Satisfaction Survey (TRISS).
The TRISS is a large-scale mixed-mode (mail and telephone) survey of a sample of 168,000 Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries worldwide. The purpose of this survey is to assess beneficiary satisfaction with worldwide inpatient care recently received within the MHS Direct Care system, as well as through its civilian network of providers, also known as Purchased Care. This multimode satisfaction survey asks adults about their recent experiences as inpatients in medical, surgical, or obstetric wards.
Altarum reports TRISS results via a dynamic website platform, reporting on 58 military treatment facilities and 67 TRICARE network hospitals. The website currently supports 600 registered users that include commanders, providers, administrators, and health policy analysts throughout the world.
