The latest HSEI briefs show that health spending moderated slightly in February, the gap in employment between health care and other industries increased, and hospital prices rose faster than overall health care inflation.

The latest HSEI briefs show that health spending grew faster than GDP in January, health care price growth continued to lag behind utilization increases, and that for every health care and social assistance hire in January, two jobs were still open. 

The latest HSEI briefs show that national health spending grew by 6.2% in 2023, job openings in health care and social assistance remain extremely high, and health care services prices increased in January.

Funded by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, the new report uses 2019 data to provide a picture of behavioral health access in Michigan just prior to the pandemic.

The latest HSEI briefs show that health spending has remained below 17.5% of GDP for the last two years, that December capped off a historic year in health care job creation, and that health care price growth remained stable last month. 

The latest HSEI briefs show that health care job growth matched its 12-month peak in November, national health spending grew by 4.1% in 2022, and increases in utilization continue to outpace health care price growth.
