Darlene Powell Garlington, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, certified school psychologist, and media psychologist who specializes in providing services to military families. She has been in private practice for more than 20 years, treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), vicarious PTSD, depression, suicidality, and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Garlington focuses on the reintegration of military personnel back into the family. She is a renowned author of several books on a range of topics including resiliency, parenting and family dynamics and has been an associate professor at universities. An expert in product development, she consults to the Department of Defense (DoD) and develops clinical support tools, toolkits, training manuals and videography for a wide range of provider, patient, and community audiences.
Dr. Garlington is a liaison for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and DoD joint educational endeavors. Her clinical focuses are trauma exposure, the treatment of PTSD, substance abuse, and co-occurring psychological disorders.
