Robert F. Graboyes, Ph.D., is Senior Research Fellow, The Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
Dr. Graboyes also teaches health economics in master’s and doctoral programs at Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Virginia.
He was Senior Healthcare Advisor at the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) during the debate over the Affordable Care Act and throughout NFIB’s lawsuit that reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Previously, as Chase Manhattan Bank’s economist for sub-Saharan Africa, he traveled extensively in Africa and Europe. He was an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and professor at the University of Richmond. Twice, he visited Central Asia to teach health economics to public health officials in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Dr. Graboyes chaired the Health Economics Roundtable for the National Association for Business Economics and has been President of the National Economists Club and the Richmond Association for Business Economics.Dr. And he recently received the Reason Foundation's 2014 Bastiat Prize for Journalism.
He has a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University, master’s degrees from the College of William and Mary, Columbia University, and Virginia Commonwealth University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
