Clinical Advisor, M-CEITA, Center for Implementation Science

Steven ArissDr. Ariss is the clinical advisor for the Michigan Center for Effective Adoption (M-CEITA), a program which supports the selection, adoption, and meaningful use of electronic health records (EHR) to improve the quality and efficiency of primary care services delivered in Michigan. He brings a unique background as a physician with professional information technology consulting experience.  He is a dedicated individual who is equally enthusiastic about new advances in medicine as well as technology.

Dr. Ariss practiced Internal Medicine at Beaumont Health – Dearborn (formerly Oakwood Hospital) under Jonathan W. Zimmerman whom he credits for inspiring him to work towards bridging the gap between health care and technology by using the same evidence-based approach he had used as a clinician. An approach that optimizes decision making by emphasizing the use of evidence from well-designed and conducted research as opposed to opinions, which may be limited by knowledge gaps or biases.

Dr. Ariss’ years of experience in leading EHR implementations including both pre and post go-live and customizing EHR builds to facilitate workflow and clinical functionality coupled with his medical knowledge allows him to better serve the more than 1,500 Medicaid-eligible physicians from large and small community and academic centers throughout the state of Michigan, ensuring successful EHR adoption and integrations.

Dr. Ariss earned his doctorate of medicine from The University of Toledo College of Medicine and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of Toledo.
