Ann Arbor, MI — Altarum today released PROMETHEUS 5.5, the next version of PROMETHEUS Analytics, the software application that advances health care payment, quality, and value-based initiatives for public and private insurers and health systems.

New updates to PROMETHEUS 5.5 include:

  • the ability to distinguish between pre-existing complications and complications as a result of a procedure;
  • the ability to use pharmacy claims as an indicator of a chronic disease;
  • an updated technical guide for users; and
  • an enhanced command line interface with improved scripting capabilities.

This new version also incorporates updated codes used by providers and payers to document and report health care services, including CPT codes, ICD-10-CM codes, ICD-10-PCS codes, HCPCS codes, and NDC codes.

PROMETHEUS Analytics is used by health systems, purchasers, payers, and providers across the United States to transition fee-for-service payments to value-based payments and to provide episode cost and quality dashboards to various risk accepting entities, including commercial and Medicaid payers. PROMETHEUS Analytics can also implement targeted value and quality improvements by analyzing claims data for the following:

  • wasteful spending;
  • underuse of high-value care;
  • deficiencies in potentially avoidable complications; and
  • cost variations in expected care.

In addition to these capabilities, PROMETHEUS Analytics can produce customized, in-depth reports on patients, providers, and claims data using transparent episode grouping methods. With PROMETHEUS Analytics, users can obtain a comprehensive view of patient care management and clinical decision-making processes for all episodes of care.
