CDC STD Prevention BrochuresAs part of its nationwide sexually transmitted disease (STD) awareness and prevention campaign, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) called on Altarum subsidiary Palladian Partners to produce low-literacy English- and Spanish-language brochures for young adults, millions of whom contract an STD every year.

After designing, writing, and editing brochures on eight STDs in English, Palladian’s translation team created Spanish-language versions of the text, back-translating to ensure factual accuracy. Knowing that effective translations are sensitive to culture as well as language, Palladian field-tested the brochures in key audiences.

Through its STD hotline, CDC distributes these multi-award-winning products, which have proved particularly popular among state health departments and local health clinics.
