Cynthia Swihart is a healthcare physician practice professional with more than 20 years of experience in provider relations and recruitment, payer contract negotiations, project management, quality and process improvement, electronic health record (EHR) implementations, budgeting and overall financial performance. Ms. Swihart's experience includes high-level management and leadership positions in large hospital systems and physician networks. Based on her recognized expertise and years of experience, Ms. Swihart helps health care organizations in multiple areas of operations and strategic planning.
In her current role at Altarum, working on the Michigan Center for Effective IT Adoption (M-CEITA) project, Ms. Swihart supports West Michigan regional market activities and also works as a client services manager accelerating practices to achieve EHR Meaningful Use. Ms. Swihart is also working with clients to optimize their EHR implementations to support improved quality for chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and asthma. Ms Swihart also is project lead for the completion of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) Regional Extension Center project and Asthma Care Improvement Project.
Prior to joining Altarum, Ms. Swihart served as the director of operations, Central Illinois, with Hospital Sisters Health System, Springfield, Illinois. She was also with Mercy Health Partners, Muskegon, Michigan, for several years during which time she served as the network development director; executive director/Physician Network; and finance director/Physician Network.
Her career in health care began with Cherry Street Health Service (Federally Qualified Health Center), Grand Rapids, Michigan, as that organization's administrative and finance director. Ms. Swihart obtained her BA with a concentration in accounting from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, and an MHA from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan.
