The PSE Implementation and Evaluation Framework: A Roadmap for Measuring Policy, Systems, and Environmental Interventions in Real World Settings

The University of Illinois Extension’s Jennifer McCaffrey and Caitlin Kownacki and Altarum’s Becca Hagedorn-Hatfield and Brenda Wolford are hosting a free pre-conference workshop during the National Health Outreach & Engagement Conference (NHOC) aimed at public health professionals who want to engage in discussion about policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes, the impact of PSE changes to transform short-term individual behavior into lasting improvements in community health, and how to evaluate changes from PSE initiatives.

This engaging pre-conference workshop will present a newly developed Policy, Systems, and Environmental Intervention and Evaluation Framework (PSE-IEF) and explore perspectives from professionals with a range of backgrounds and experience in PSE work.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Highlight the importance of PSE interventions and thorough evaluations that consider short-, intermediate-, and long-term outcomes in community-based work.
2. Present the PSE-IEF and explain how it assists practitioners and evaluators in measuring both the implementation and outcomes of PSE initiatives.
3. Collect input from professionals with a range of backgrounds and PSE experience to help improve the PSE-IEF before it is shared more widely.
