Strengthening Public Health IT Infrastructure
How do we connect siloed data and equip public health partners to act on it?
Public health agencies generate more data than ever, but too often that data remains fragmented across systems, delaying reporting and limiting its value for decision-making.
For more than two decades, Altarum has helped state and federal public health partners modernize data exchange and interoperability, strengthening both IT infrastructure and workforce capacity.
We work with partners to identify gaps in existing systems and implement practical solutions. For instance, Altarum has helped Washington, Colorado, North Dakota, Michigan, and Wisconsin implement HL7 FHIR-based vital records exchange across 57 jurisdictions. The result: faster reporting, better-informed decisions, and stronger public health responses.
Our software engineers, data scientists, and public health analysts have expertise in data modernization, disease surveillance systems and registries, public health interoperability, custom public health IT development, and applied AI for public health data.
Across all our work, we advance health missions by helping partners act on the data they generate so they can better protect the communities they serve.
