Jimmie Keenan has over 30 years of experience as a leader in health care administration and operations.
In March 2025, Major General (R) Keenan established Keenan Leadership Consulting, LLC. She is an executive consultant partnering with nonprofit, federal, and local organizations to navigate our complex health care environments. Her focus is on value-based care, change management, and culture.
Major General (R) Keenan oversaw more than three hundred owned and operated clinics in Texas and Florida as the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Clinical Operations for WellMed Medical Management (Optum Health) from February 2016 until October 2024. She was responsible for day-to-day operations as well as membership, revenue, and market growth across the enterprise.
She is a U.S. Army veteran and retired with the rank of Major General. She served as Deputy Commanding General for the U.S. Army Medical Command and Chief, U.S. Army Nurse Corps. During her military career she served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army Warrior Transition Command at the Pentagon, Commanding General of the U.S Army Public Health Command in Maryland and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Southern Regional Medical Command.
Major General (R) Keenan is a distinguished military graduate from Henderson State University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University and a Master in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. She is a Fellow in both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Academy of Nursing. Major General (R) Keenan serves on various nonprofit boards and is committed to giving back to the community.
