Altarum Announces Max Entman as New CEO

June 02, 2025

Altarum today announced the appointment of Max Entman as the next Chief Executive Officer and President. The Altarum enterprise includes Altarum’s nonprofit Public Health Systems and Population Health divisions as well as Palladian Partners and Altarum Medicaid-Medicare Services for States. Entman will succeed Michael Monson, who has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2021. This change is part of a strategic effort to rightsize the organization for long-term sustainability and impact in today’s environment.

“Max is a proven professional services leader with experience supporting health care organizations across the government, nonprofit, and private sectors. His background in health transformation, communications, human capital, and digital innovation makes him an ideal fit to lead Altarum into the future,” said Joe Fifer, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Altarum.

“I want to thank Michael for his four years of dedicated leadership and commitment to our mission. Under his leadership, Altarum has been transformed. He has strengthened our impact, expanded the scope of our work, added new federal agencies and states to our client portfolio, created a high-performance culture that earned multiple workplace-of-choice designations, and improved our financial performance,” said Fifer.

“I’m thrilled to continue delivering impactful, mission-driven work that improves the health of individuals with fewer financial resources and populations disenfranchised by the health care system. Building on the strong foundation created by Michael and the entire Altarum team, I’m excited to drive even more mission impact at a transformational time for health care,” Entman said.

A creative and collaborative executive with deep federal health sector experience, Entman has achieved significant results for multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Homeland Security, among others. He has also provided strategic counsel to numerous national health and science nonprofits and associations. Across nearly two decades, his career has focused on delivering innovative solutions that drive measurable mission impact. Most recently, he served as President of Palladian Partners, an Altarum Company. Prior to joining Palladian, Entman was Senior Vice President of Human Experience at Aptive, where he grew and led a $100 million portfolio supporting more than a dozen federal agencies.

Entman will assume the role effective immediately. Monson will remain on staff to assist with the transition until July 1.
