Altarum Awarded Grant from Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott
Altarum is honored to receive a grant from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott in support of Altarum’s mission to advance the health of individuals with fewer financial resources and populations disenfranchised by the health care system. Altarum works with federal and state agencies and foundations to design and implement solutions that lead to better health for beneficiaries and better value for payers. Altarum achieves measurable results by combining deep expertise in public health and health care delivery with technology, workforce training and continuing education, applied research, and technical assistance.
“We are humbled by this recognition of our efforts to improve health care service delivery and public health. This remarkable grant allows for the acceleration of our efforts,” said Michael Monson, Altarum’s chief executive officer and president. “It also sheds light on the shared commitment of Altarum and Ms. Scott to ensure health equity becomes a reality.”
Ms. Scott’s approach to giving takes a data-driven approach to identifying organizations “with strong leadership teams and results, with special attention to those operating in communities facing high projected food insecurity, high measures of racial inequity, high local poverty rates” and more.
“This grant acknowledges the deep expertise and phenomenal work of the Altarum team,” said Altarum Board of Trustees’ Chair Dr. Guy Fish. “To be recognized by Ms. Scott as an organization with a solid strategy and high potential for impact on health equity is also a reflection of Altarum’s experienced, passionate leadership team.”
Altarum is transforming health care from increasing access to behavioral health service for adolescents in rural communities to working with nursing homes to help them shift to person-centered care to advancing standards-based public health interoperability. Our partnerships with states, public health departments, federal agencies, and community-based organizations nationwide enable us to promote health equity, scale public health infrastructure, and implement insights and efficiencies to ensure all people have opportunities to lead healthy lives.
