October 01, 2024

Altarum is pleased to announce its selection to develop and lead the Center for Maternal and Child Health Medicaid Partnerships (the “Center”), a new initiative of Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). The Center aims to strengthen relationships between key federal and state programs, including the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), state Medicaid programs, and the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant program (Title V), to coordinate their services to improve maternal and child health.

Comprehensive support is needed for health agencies to advance policy levers, pursue health equity, and improve health outcomes for maternal and child health (MCH) populations. When Title V program, CHIP, and Medicaid programs work together work together seamlessly, they can significantly increase access and improve care. The Center will lead national and state-level efforts to strengthen these collaborations.

Through leadership of the Center, Altarum aims to improve partnerships between state agencies, encourage states to adopt collaborative policies, and share resources more effectively. By collaborating with HRSA, state Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care Organizations, CHIP, Title V, and communities, the goal is to scale, spread, and sustain innovation to improve MCH and address health equity to reduce disparities.

Altarum’s extensive experience in implementing sustainable solutions in state and federal agencies, integrating lived experiences, and forging partnerships with key leaders in maternal and child health, combined with our subject matter expertise and commitment to health equity, uniquely positions us to lead this initiative. “We are honored to collaborate with MCHB on the development and implementation of this Center,” said Michael Monson, Chief Executive Officer at Altarum. Tara Fowler, Vice President of Population Health at Altarum, added, “Our team's extensive experience in transforming Medicaid programs, along with our proven track record in managing MCH programs, makes us the ideal partner to lead this initiative for MCHB. This experience enables us to act as a ‘universal translator’ across Medicaid, CHIP, and Title V.”
