Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value to Host Briefing on Recommendations for Moderating Health Care Spending and Growth

February 02, 2023

In 2018, Health Affairs assembled a distinguished group of 20 policy experts to form the Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value.  The Council was charged with recommending ways that the US can take a deliberate approach to moderating healthcare spending growth while maximizing value.  George Miller, PhD, Altarum Fellow and Research Team Leader, serves as a council member.

The council promotes a nonpartisan, evidence-based approach to understanding what we spend on health care, what benefits we receive from that spending, and how the nation can achieve more from its investment in health. Based on this understanding, the council has developed recommendations about how the US could take a more deliberate approach to moderating health care spending growth while maximizing value.

Health Affairs will offer a special forum on Friday, February 3, 2023 to explore issues addressed by the council’s recommendations. In steering policymakers and other stakeholders toward a set of recommendations that has been vetted and supported by a diverse group of experts with divergent interests, the Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value hopes to provide a strong starting point for action.
