Altarum is excited to sponsor and attend the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) 2023 Annual Conference on June 25-29, 2023, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The CSTE annual conference offers an opportunity for over 2,500 public health epidemiologists from across the United States to connect with likeminded individuals who share expertise in surveillance, epidemiology, and best practices in informatics, infectious diseases, substance use, immunizations, environmental health, occupational health, chronic disease, injury control, and maternal and child health.

Altarum’s experts are available to meet in person at CSTE 2023 to discuss our public health interoperability and disease surveillance service offerings and solutions.

Altarum’s Craig Newman will present “Helios FHIR Accelerator: Leveraging the Power of FHIR to Advance Public Health Interoperability” which will be part of the “Surveillance/Informatics I – Diving into the Great Salt Lake: Novel Approaches to Informatics Challenges” session on Tuesday, June 27, from 3:45–5:00 pm in Salt Palace, 250 ABC.

A Must-See Poster Presentation: In a project funded by the National Center for Health Statistics to assess the feasibility of SMART-on-FHIR for birth reporting, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Division for Vital Records and Health Statistics (DVRHS) partnered with three Michigan hospitals to evaluate data abstracted with a SMART-on-FHIR application compared to manual submission of birth certificate data. Kayla Jones, MPH, CPH, Applied Public Health Informatics Fellow with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and a CSTE Applied Public Health Informatics Fellow, will present the poster “Evaluating the Use of SMART-on-FHIR to Improve Birth Certificate Data Quality in Michigan” on Monday, June 26 at 10:00 am. Can’t make that time? The poster will be on display from Sunday at noon through Monday at 4:00 pm.

If you would like to schedule a time—either at the conference or afterward—to learn more about how we can help your state or partner with your organization to achieve seamless interoperability in your public health infrastructure, connect with Jim Kamp, director of strategic partnerships, at jim.kamp@altarum.org.
