Chris is a senior researcher who specializes in understanding patient engagement, patient experience, and how patient attitudes and behaviors relate to health outcomes. With a background in social psychology, statistics, and research methodology, he has served as a senior researcher for health care survey research programs for the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Health Services and Resources Administration, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, state governments, and businesses. He has served as a senior researcher for federal CAHPS and HCAHPS patient experience survey research programs. In collaboration with Safeway Health, he worked to develop the Altarum Consumer Engagement (ACE) Measure, which assesses how engaged patients are with their own health care and successfully predicts many health care-related outcomes. Chris holds a PhD in social psychology from the University of Exeter.
