Health Engagement & Outreach
Connecting people to the information, programs, and services they need to improve health
Palladian Partners, a wholly owned Altarum subsidiary, helps federal health and science agencies connect people to the information, programs, and services that improve health. We enable the National Institutes of Health (NIH), FDA, CDC, other agencies, and mission-driven organizations to reach the people they serve while building their capacity to sustain this work over time.
Palladian has worked at the intersection of public health and science since 1996. We bring together strategists, researchers, writers, designers, developers, and other experts who understand both the science and the people it is meant to reach.
We design programs grounded in evidence and informed by audience insight to change behavior—not just raise awareness.
What We Do
Every engagement starts with understanding the audience: what they know, what they believe, and what stands between them and the desired next step.
Our work includes:
- Audience research and strategy: We ground every engagement in an understanding of what the audience knows, believes, and needs, then develop approaches that reflect that reality.
- Science translation and health education: We make complex clinical, regulatory, and public health information accessible to non-experts without sacrificing accuracy.
- Outreach and behavior change programs: We design initiatives that move audiences from awareness to action. That could mean getting a checkup, understanding a new treatment option, or making daily choices for better health.
- Digital and editorial services: We develop and manage the content, channels, and platforms that help people find and use trusted information.
- Conference and event services: We support scientific and public health convenings from planning through execution.
Measurable Impact
Palladian operates at scale. For example, our outreach strategies have helped the National Institute on Aging consistently engage new entrepreneurs across its Small Business Programs, which provide about $150 million in grants annually to support aging-related research and development.
For NIH’s All of Us Research Program, a national effort to enroll 1 million people in a groundbreaking precision medicine research initiative, Palladian has provided outreach, engagement, and program support since All of Us launched in 2016.
Palladian builds agency capacity through documented playbooks, message frameworks, and channel strategies agencies can own and reuse. We also embed evaluation frameworks into planning and execution so that agencies can continue to measure who they're reaching and where opportunities remain.
