Altarum’s Craig Newman Honored with Achievements in Public Health Informatics Award in Newborn Screening
Altarum is honored to announce that Craig Newman, Public Health Interoperability Expert, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Association of Public Health Laboratories Award for Achievements in Public Health Informatics in Newborn Screening. Craig's outstanding contributions to the field have made a significant impact on public health, and this recognition is well-deserved. Newman received his award at the 2023 APHL Newborn Screening Symposium.
The award honors a person working in any aspect of newborn screening worldwide and judged by the Awards Selection Committee to have made significant contributions in one or more of the following areas: enhancing implementation practices for electronic messaging; developing strategies for achieving effective data management; improving laboratory capability for health information data exchange; providing new and creative approaches to communicate findings through data visualization.
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) works to strengthen laboratory systems serving the public’s health in the United States and globally. APHL represents state and local governmental health laboratories in the United States; this includes public health, agricultural, environmental, and other related laboratories. Its members monitor, detect, and respond to health threats.
