Supporting Those Who Serve
How do we improve the quality of health care and support services to meet the needs of our nation’s active-duty service members, Veterans, and their families?
For more than 40 years, Altarum has worked with the federal agencies responsible for the health of our nation's active-duty service members, Veterans, and their families. Our clients include the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Our work helps them carry out their mission.
We know our way around the data systems federal partners rely on, including MHS GENESIS, TRICARE Encounter Data, the MHS Data Repository, and DEERS. When paired with rigorous research methods, that knowledge produced work that informs reports to Congress and helped our partners track access, quality, and patient experience, and address concerns such as the mental health of Service members and Veterans, telehealth adoption, and the transition from military to civilian life.
One example: For more than 20 years, Altarum ran the Defense Health Agency's Health Care Survey of DoD Beneficiaries (HCSDB), reaching a stratified random sample of approximately 300,000 service members, retirees, and family members each year. HCSDB findings feed the Annual Evaluation of the TRICARE Program that DHA delivers to Congress each year.
Across all our programs, we advance health missions by giving military health leaders the evidence they need, equipping them to improve care for the people who serve.
